And so it goes for the Blue Jays

Remember when the Blue Jays went into Fenway Park 9 days ago?

They had a 3 1/2 game lead on the Red Sox and were riding a 4 game winning streak. They were about to embark on a 9 game road trip to show they were for real.

They were about to make a statement.

Oh, they made a statement alright.

Nine days later they are the third place Blue Jays and they lost all nine games of the road trip.

They ran up an 8-3 lead today with Roy Halladay on the mound.
A 5 run 8th inning later it was in extra innings.

Then they had a 10-8 lead in the 11th... and someone named Nolan Reimold, a prospect even people who follow Orioles prospects forgot about, hit a walk off homer.

All of a sudden Cito Gaston's Manager of the Year award doesn't look as certain.

Either way, here's hoping their slide lasts just a few more games as the Red Sox come to town!

  1. His name is Nolan Reimold, not Reimond, and he's been the #2 position prospect in the organization behind Wieters, whose name you should also become really, really familiar with.

  2. I know Weiters...

    You'll forgive me for not being as familiar with the Orioles farm system as it hasn't exactly been a fruitful bounty in recent years

  3. I wouldn't expect a Sox fan to know anything about any other team, but you should at least spell their names right. Google can help you out with that.

    Reimond != Reimold
    Weiters != Wieters

  4. Sorry for the misspellings. I am a notoriously bad speller

    You are right. I am a typical Red Sox fan who NEVER writes about other teams.

    You might want to check out the 820 pages I wrote about other teams (including 30 about the Orioles) here

    But hey! Never let the facts get in the way of a meaningless insult

  5. "Never let the facts get in the way of a meaningless insult"

    Oh, what about your comment before mine? A meaningless jab at the Orioles farm system based off of ratings years ago, instead of addressing the real issue by admitting you didn't do your homework.

    Here's the thing. I've never read your blog before. I read your post, your comment, and a few entry titles and made my comment.

  6. Further, anyone that follows baseball prospects, especially Orioles prospects, knows who Reimold is. The guy you linked to either had a brain fart, or doesn't follow them very well.

    Are some people surprised by his performance so far? Yes. He has always had the potential. He's a big kid with legit power. He had holes like any prospect, but he worked hard at correcting them. He mashed last year in AA, and this year in AAA.
